The town Corabia, situated in the southern part of the Olt county, on the left bank of the Danube river, was established in 1871 by The Law of Corabia town foundation, issued by king Carol, based on economical necessities, Corabia being favorable to commercial activities.

The local industry developed mainly in processing leather, textile fibres, metal products and units for different industrial enterprises from our country.
